  1. Hi,

Can you please shed some light on the executive MBA in India . I’ve been working in IT industry from last 3 years and now feels that time is right to make the next move and get into the business side of things then the technical ones

    • Sudhir, Top IIMs such as A, B, C, L, ISB, XLRI, FMS, Great Lakes etc. are some top B-Schools that you could target for an Executive MBA.

  2. Sir,
I have 2 years of work ex but by the time I will be writing CAT 18, I will have 1.5 years of gap. Will this affect my selection at IIMs ?

    • The gap can affect your stance in the interview. 1.5 year gap will be difficult to justify. As long as you can justify in the interviews, all is good.

  3. Respected sir ,
I am very much concerned about my acadmics, 10th/ 85.5% , 12th / 58.8% , btech / 68%. I gave CAT 17 and secured 82 percentile. Now i am preparing for Cat 18. Will i be able to get a call from top bschool and a good placement from this type of background ? Please answer !!

  4. Hi Sir ,
I decided to pursue MBA quite late in my career. I have already spent 3.3 years in IT industry with first attempt CAT 2017 score as 88%ile. Please advise if I should take colleges like MISB Bocconi, Great Lakes Chennai, NMIMS Bangalore or retake CAT next year if I am confident of pulling off above 95%ile. Will my exp of more than 4 yrs next year or my 12th score have the negative impact?
    10th – 91.69
    12th – 74.5
    B.E. – 7.93
Many extracurricular activities with state govt scholarship 4 times in middle/high school.

    • Your 12th score will not be as much of a problem (if you score above 95%ile) as would be the amount of your work ex. If you choose to attempt CAT next year, be ready to justify why you’re going for a full time MBA and not executive. All said, GREAT Lakes Chennai is a GREAT institute! 😀 and you can look to take admission there.

  5. Dear Sir,

I am a Chartered Accountant working in consultancy firm in Kolkata earning annually INR 8L . I have been quite good in academics. I want to start my own business and I assume that MBA can help me in this regard. As I am unable to leave my parents, can you advise me the best options available for Regular or Distance MBA in Kolkata.

  6. Sir,
I am a final year engineering student. After 10th, I have completed my diploma in engineering and then took admission in direct second year of engineering. My score in 10th is 90.91% , Diploma aggregate is 77.89% and in second year of engineering is 6.9 cgpa and third year results are yet to be declared. I want to perceive MBA from an institute like IIM or IIFT. If I crack the tests, Can I expect a call from IIM or IIFT ?
    Thanks,
    Regards.

  7. Respected sir
    Greetings of the day
I need a personal suggestion from you about if MBA could be a good way to start a fresh career.I completed my engineering from BIT MESRA in 2014.Though I got 2 jobs at the campus only Infosys and IBM; I joined none and instead pursued my passion for civil services.I failed thrice to clear even prelims. Now I started afresh for MBA but I am worried about 3 -4-year gap. Will this gap affect my prospect of converting in any top MBA colleges or in getting an internship or job after that? My marks are as follows:
    10th 83%
    12th 79%
    BE 71.1%
Please guide me and suggest the best for me.

    • Vijay, MBA is open to one ans all. If you are able to justify the gap of 3-4 years, then converting a good B-School should not be a problem. Focus on getting a good CAT score and also prepare well for stage 2.

  8. Respected sir,

I need your guidance please help me as i will be appearing in CAT 2017 for the first time and i am not sure that i will be getting a call from top colleges like MDI , IIFT , NMIS , SYMBOISES PUNE, I am able to get 90 %tile in my mock test but my past qualification is not good as in my class 10th i secured 6.8 CGPA in 12th i got 81.75% best 4 subject and i did my grad. From DU, SOL secured 52%. I have a relevant experience of 1 year in a logistic company as a state manger so please help with this so that i can be sure about my step i am taking..

    Thanks,
    Regards

    • Rakshit, focus on your CAT preparation. Different B-Schools give different weightage to past academic records and therefore you may stand a chance to get a call from many top B-schools provided you clear the cut-off.

  9. Respected Sir,
I needed a brief comparision between ISB&M pune and XIME kochi and which institution would be a better carrier option for marketing as time is less for XIME and I need to decide soon!
    Please help!

  10. Sir,
With overall percentile of 94.03 and sectional percentile above 80 can i expect call from any IIM?
    10th 88.14
    12th 90.50
    btech 73.62
