One thing is clear the paper is very simple in comparison to CAT……its level is not tough. The only extra preparation required is for General Awareness

  • General Knowledge: SNAP GK Section contains 40 questions includes questions on static and current GK. Questions from the field of business and commerce and required the students to be thorough with knowledge of Business, Foreign Policy, Sports, Movies and Government Policies, Physics, Chemistry, Constitution etc. Students can easily attempt 10-15 questions and that is all what is required to clear the cutoff marks for this section.
  • Reasoning: Logical section in SNAP only has 30 questions but weightage given is 33.33%. Each question is 2 marks. This is a comparatively different section from CAT. SNAP includes reasoning on all kind of questions in comparison to CAT. SNAP paper might have FIJ, Deductive Logic & Logical Consistency, Arrangements, Blood Relation, Cubes , Analogy, Analytical Reasoning, Coding, Grid Based, Operators, Switching.

All the best!

      • Pritish, the results of IIMs and other institutes have come out in the last 7-10 days and the refund applications will happen only now. Also the results of some of the IIMs are pending. Waitlist movement will happen only by mid may.

  14. sir i knw im disturbing u alot , but sir i m really worried these days!

sir after the 3rd list of siib ib i have moved from 58 to 48 SC category the movmnt in the list fr sc students was of 10 ,

i knw u said after iim / iit results there will be a movemnt , bt sir the process is nt centralized this year , what r my chances sir! plz help me sir , really depressed

    • Pritesh, getting depressed will not help you nor will it hasten the wait list movement. We can only wait for the results of IIMs and other government institutes (IITs, NITIE etc) as the reserved category wait list will move only after these declare their results.

  15. sir after the 2nd list of siib ib i have been waitlisted at 58 sc category,

  17. Sir,
between SIIB and SIBM -bangalore,which institute I should choose? I am concerned that a degree in IB will benefit me or not bcoz I am a fresher..plz reply..

    • Shagun, while the two institutes are at par my preference is for SIIB Pune since it is an older institute with a better placement record. Being a fresher will not be a disadvantage.

  18. sir , between sibm banglore and siib ib which one should one prefer this year??
also sir i have been waitlisted at sibm b on 55 SC category and siib ib 58 SC category after 2nd merit list , what are my chances to convert and which one should i prefer??

    • Pritish, my preference is for SIIB as it is an older institute with a better placement record. You will most probably convert both the calls but my need to wait for the declaration of IIM results for the wait list to move.

  19. Hi

I want to pursue MBA in HR or marketing (2nd preference). Which B school will be better for me.. SIBM Bangalore or SIIB (IB), considering I have got admission in both. Please reply ASAP thanks.

  20. Sir,
I am an SAP BW consultant having 3 yrs of experience .
I got call for SIBM Innovation and intrapreneurship program …….
If I join this program ..will it do justice to my profile (If I am not going to start any kind of startup and will be continuing in IT filed )
    Should I join this program

    • Saurabh, While SIBM Pune is a good name this is a new program and yet to establish itself. My feeling is that it should do well but suggest that you talk to the current students before finalising.

  21. Sir,

I am an database engineer having 3 yr + experience . I am shortlisted for SIBM MBA Innovation & Intrapreneurship . As a career point of view will it be good for me ????

    Thanks in advance

    • Saurabh, apologise for the delay. This is a new program and needs to establish itself but given the SIBM name it should turn out to be a good option.

  22. Hi Sir,

I wanted to know which one is better from a placement and over all brand perspective SIMB Bangalore or SIMS Pune ?..while in most rankings SIMS pune is way ahead of SIBM Bangalore consistantly for the past 3 years (Source Business Today rankings).
Placement records also put SIMS pune ahead while avg placements at SIMS are 8.21 Lacs SIBM Bangalore has 7.21 lacs, highest placement at SIMS pune was 18 lacs it was Rs 15 lacs for SIBM Bangalore.
IN terms of ROI as well fees for SIMS pune is 6.50 lacs and for SIBM Bangalore 9.20 lacs.
Which one of the two would be a better brand value and placement wise which is better ?

I have applied to both being from defense background.
    thanks
    Gaurav

  24. Sir
Please guide me about SIIB and SIBM, Bengaluru. Are these really good enough colleges? How good is their course curriculum? & %age placements?
    Regards

  25. Sir,
I didn’t understand about SITM course. Pl can you tell me, how is “Telecom MBA” is better or different than normal MBA?
Why companies want telecom MBA employees instead of usual ones?

    • Pushkaraj, it is a niche program which caters to the requirements of Telecom, IT and consultancy companies. IT should not be your first preference but should be considered as a decent back up option.

  26. Hello Sir,
How much are the average packages of SCMHRD and SIIB??
I have only filled SIBM and SCMHRD in the snap form, can I now ad SIIB?

    • Tatharth, yes you should add SIIB-IB as a back up. The average salary of SIIB IB will be around Rs 8 lakh pa while that of SCMHRD will be around Rs 10 lakh pa.

  27. Hello sir,
As far as the preparations of snap test are concerned, just practising questions from the test gym is sufficient? What else should I focus on?

  28. Sir/Mam,

Between SIIB-Pune & SIBM-B’lore which one should i prefer? As i’ve already applied for sibm-pune & scmhrd, considering the 3rd just as a back up option. Thanks in advance.

  29. Sir please tell me if the final SNAP percentile is a composite one (Academics + Snap Score) or just the SNAP test percentile. Can you also guide me how the academics are considered for different Symbiosis Institutes (SIBM, SCHMRD, SIIB).

    Thanks.

      • Khurshid, it is is new program and will take a couple of years before anything definitive can be said about it. However given the SIBM Pune reputation it is a good back up option.

    • Khurshid, this year SNAP will not be taking academics into account and the percentiles will be based on the SNAP test score only.

  30. Sir,
I am a ward of defence personnel, so looking forward to apply for SIMS. Sir is it in par with top B-schools? can you give comparisons for better understanding.

  31. Sir ,I passed my graduation in 2012, I was working in my friends company but not on permanent basis , Should I write my work experience in the column or should I leave , Is it helpful further in selection

  32. Hi Sir,
I am a CL student and also working in Cognizant for the last 3 years. Is it worth for me to apply in any other Symbiosis institute apart from SIBM-Pune and SCMHRD?

    • Ranajay,
SIBM & SCMHRD are the best institutes under the Symbiosis umbrella. But it depends on couple of things
      a) How good is your current mock CAT percentile ?…if yes apply to good colleges under CAT and only SIBM and SCMHRD
      b) XAT gives you a month more to prepare so you might fill more forms which accept XAT score than SNAP
      c) If you are interested in International Business, SIIB should also be a choice

      • Thanks for your reply.
        1. The Last mock Cat which I took, I got 71/360. My score fluctuates in between 70-80 in most of the mocks. Sometimes it had gone to 90.
        2. Yes, I will be appearing for XAT as many top B-Schools are accepting XAT scores.
        3. How good is the job opportunity/ campus recruitment in SIIB (International Business) ? Will it be worth for me to take up the course after 3yrs of experience ?

  33. Respected GP Sir,

I want to know about SIOM-Nashik. How are it’s placement, avg. package ? No proper data is available on it’s website.

    Thanx in advance.

    • Saurabh, as the name suggests SIOM offers an MBA in Operations Management and one should apply to the institute only if one is sure of specialising in this area. It has decent placements with a diverse range of companies – from consultancies to manufacturing organisations. While is average CTC would be around Rs 8 lakh pa,freshers are likely to get around 6.5-7 lakh pa. it is a good back up option.

  34. Sir
I am a CL student and below is my percentile as per the CLPP model:
    Most Likely Percentile-97.02
    Best Attempt Percentile-98.57
My area of interest is Finance.
It would be extremely helpful if you could provide me with a list of institutes good for an MBA in Finance.(Keeping in mind my aforementioned percentile scores)

    • Ajay, these two institutes are at par with NMIMS Mumbai and if you are comfortable with NM Mumbai then these two should be considered.

  35. Dear Sir,

I am confuse about SIIB(IB) and SIMS. for apply can u suggest me whether i apply for these colleges or not. and i have confusion about SIIB. i think prograams offered by SIIB need non-medical Background. soooooo olease

    • Gaurav, SIIB IB is a good program and you should consider applying for it. The program is similar to that offered by other top B schools and it does not have a bias for non-medical background. SIMS is a good back up option for wards of defence personnel.

  36. Hello sir,
Which colleges to consider in SNAP sir..m currntly in fourth yr of engg..will it b worthful to join SIOM Nashik, SITM, Sibm bangalore, SCIT??

    • Shouvik, my order of preference among the SNAP colleges is SIBM Pune, SCMHRD Pune, SIIB Pune, SIBM Bangalore, SITM Pune and then SCIT Pune. In case you are keen on operation then it should come between SCMHRD and SIIB.

  37. Dear Sir,
What should we enter in the experience column while filling SIBM-P form as they have not mentioned till what date the experience is accepted in the form?
The column is accepting only Numeric and not alphabet characters.

    Thanks

    • Dear Pakshaal,
SIBM- P form states the following when you select the ‘hint’
Total Duration in Months Mention the total duration.
so mention this in months till date since they have not specified anything

  38. Dear GP sir,

What should be my preference of programs while applying for XlRI?After BM which one should i choose as my second preference, HR or Global management program?Which one is better in terms of scope, job oppurtunities and campus placement wise ?

    • XLRI HR is one of the best programs in the country but are you interested in it ?…please look at the curriculum available on XLRI website http://www.xlri.ac.in/academic-prog/pdf/PMIR.pdf …..you will also study all the core subjects of management but interest in HR should be the key deciding factor.
Global MBA will cost you around 38+ LPA ..a program across three countries. They also seem to prefer people with work ex.
Campus placement wise HR, BM and Global are more or less at par …however ROI wise because of more cost, Global MBA might turn out to be a bit more difficult.

    • Ravi, HR should be considered only if you are keen non specialising in this area else you should consider Global Management.

      • Thank you sir for your reply…I have one more question regarding FMS application.Could you please guide me on how to write your career goal(SOP) in FMS application form? Also how we should write extracurricular and awards, scholarships etc. in the application form especially when you have very less to write about it?

  39. Sir/Mam,
I was recruited by Cognizant in 2012 through off-campus recruitment drive & I have 24 months of experience as of now. I received a conditional offer letter for getting selected. However, as against the usual practice, my batch was trained by a third party vendor for three months during which we didn’t receive any salary. I became a part of Cognizant pay-roll only after successfully completing the 3 months training period. The same was mentioned in the conditional offer letter. Can I count my training period as work experience? Just that my training was outsourced to a vendor and nothing else.

    • Dear Gopal,
What date does the offer letter state. The exact wordings of the offer letter will make the difference. if they mention that employment is subject to completion of the training then your start date wwould be when you started working for Cognizant.
      Ankita

  40. Dear Sir,
Will Symbiosis colleges especially SIBM-P, SCMHRD be considering Work Experience of students this time?
They have not mentioned explicitly on this aspect in SNAPTEST website atleast

    Thanks

  41. hello sir,

sir i wish to inquire that, will symbiosis be considering the profile scores of class 10th, 12th while rolling out the final percentile of SNAP this time . Till last year It was merging the written score with the academic score to get to the final percentile .

What is the scenario this year sir ,?

    • Koustav, it appears that this year there is no weight for marks of X, XII and graduation and the short listing will be on the basis of SNAP score only.

  42. Hi GP sir ,
a few days ago as a reply to my comment , you said that you will get the functionality to see the time spent on each question restored . has it been restored ??

For me it is imp to see how much time I have spent on each and every question of the proc / unproc that I attempt .

    kindly reply

    Thanks in advance

  43. Hi GP sir ,
Till last year we were able to copy – paste in the comment section of this blog which empowered us to discuss questions from mocks and test gym at this platform and get our doubts cleared . ( as is obvious , it is not possible for a student to type the RC from the test gym adaptive in the comment box to ask a question ) .

But this time , the functionality of copy pasting in the comment box is disabled . Kindly consider changing this decision of yours of removing the copy – paste function from this blog . If we are allowed to copy paste , we will be able to get our doubts cleared .

    Thanks and regards,
    Rahul

  44. Hi GP sir ,

What is the word length of Rcs that is expected in CAT . I mean some will be longer , some will be shorter and so on . So my question is : please tell me word lengths seperately for all the 5 RCs.

    Regards,
    Rahul

  45. Hi GP sir ,

As you would already know that NMAT started from today ( i.e 7th of October ), I request you to kindly conduct a webinar on the pattern and difficulty level of the exam that NMAT is rolling out this year . My NMAT is on 17th of October , so if we can have webinar in a couple of days , it will help me plan my preparations accordingly .

    Thanks and regards ,
    Rahul

      • Hi Gp sir ,

On the exam corner of last year , exam analysis of all the papers of last year was published . But this year , the link to the exam corner of last year is not working and the exam corner of this year is not having analysis of last year papers or any other year paper for that paper . If possible , provide us the analysis of all the last year papers ( SNAP , IIFT , XAT . NMAT , etc ) that was published on the exam corner through some medium, I mean either republish them on this year exam corner , or publish on this blog , or make them available in sis login , etc . Plz provide the analysis sir , that will be very very helpful for CL students.

        Thanks and regards ,
        Rahul

  46. Hello Ankita Madam,

I wanted to ask whether I should apply for SCMHRD if I am not really interested in HR, considering the fact that it asks for an extra 1000 Rs. for each application. Also can you please tell me what is the future scope in SIIB? I mean related to placements, ROI etc.

    Thankyou!

    • Pankti, SCMHRD is a full fldged MBA institute and it is well known for other specialisations as well. Unfortunately the “HR” in the name makes many students consider it good only for HR. If you are reasonably sure of over 90%ile in CAT then you should apply to both SCMHRD and SIBM Pune.
