SNAP 2014 Exam Analysis

Writing SNAP 2014 was a good distraction for the tens of thousands of students waiting for CAT results, wasn’t it?

The overall difficulty level of the paper was significantly above the difficulty level of SNAP papers in the last two-three years as the difficulty level of at least three sections (QA, VA and Reasoning) was above that of these sections in the recent years.

Most of the well-prepared students would have allotted 40 minutes to Verbal Ability and General Knowledge together giving about 25-30 minutes to VA and 10-15 minutes to GK. Of the remaining 80 minutes Reasoning would have taken 40-45 minutes (as all the 30 questions are 2-markers here) and and the balance 35-40 minutes would have gone to Quantitative Aptitude.

  6. SIR, acc to CL snap score predictor im getting a score of 107.25 worst case scenario im considering 93-95 . what are my chances ? and also i have seen alot of people on different forums getting a score of 90+ . will the cutoff go high ?

    • Ashima, these cutoffs are based on the data submitted by all of you and I believe that the cutoffs will be within a couple of marks of these numbers.

    • Jatin, with 90%ile in CMAT you should apply to GIM and KJ Somaiyya.
      Apply to MICA based on your MAT score.
      Go for a retake of MAT in Feb’15 also since Mumbai University colleges through CET are possible through MAT also but they consider only Feb MAT. Try to increase your MAT score to over 99.9%ile to have a chance in Sydenham.
      Will be coming out with percentiles based on SNAP scores in a couple of days.

    According to CL SNAP Score predictor I am getting score of 106.5.. which may be at max a 100+ score if i discount all my apprehensions of questions unattempted or attempted incorrectly. What shall be my chances of getting calls from SIBM,Pune & SCMHRD?

    Also by when can we get the B-School advisory for SNAP?

  11. I am getting around 75 as per CL predictor. But if the pie chart question is cancelled, it may go down to 70.Do I have any chances of getting SIBM Bang or SIOM? I have 1.5 yrs experience with CTS despite graduating as a mechanical engg. Will my CTS experience be of any help during my interview or beyond in SIOM?

    • Sanjay, for estimated cutoffs please refer to the post SNAP 2014 Cutoffs.
      I don’t think that the Pie Chart question should be cancelled as it can be solved with 420 degrees. The percentages etc can be calculated, for example sector of 30 degree would represent 30/420 = 1/14 = 7.14% of the total.

    As per SNAP score calculator my score is 87.25, however I am unsure of 1 or 2 answers. So it should lie btw 85-89. Kindly tell me if I will get calls from SIIB/SIBM-Bengaluru/SIBM-Pune Innovation and Intrapreneurship / SIOM.

    I am getting 54 marks in SNAP as per the score calculator. Kindly advice me if I should opt for SIMS or not. Some details:
    Category: General
    Previlege: Defence Personnel (Father retired from Army)
    Marks predicted in SNAP: 54
    Work-exp: 30 months in IT sector
    Current package: 4.5 lakhs p.a

    Please suggest me other good coleges also accepting SNAP, in which I can try.

    My Nmat score is english-60,QA-71, LR-71.

    Can i expect a call from on this score??

    • Sumit, unfortunately NM Mumbai is not possible at this score, NM Bangalore/Hyderabad are also difficult but you have an outside chance.

    It will be really helpful if you could answer certain doubts of mine
    1. Even after clearing overall cut off and scoring 40 in IIFT i didn’t get a call because of 0.34 difference in general awareness section. Recently, there has been a rumor about second waiting list, is that true?
    2. Compared to all other sections, my performance goes very low in g.k section. With XAT and TISS remaining and constrained time, what sources will you recommend for this particular section?
    3. Is there any sectional cut- off in TISS? i tried looking at their site for an answer but due to change in pattern, nothing has been mentioned regarding sectional cut off.

    • Shubhangi, IIFT is unfortunate but nothing can be done in this regard and there will not be a 2nd list. With this kind of performance in IIFT (40 marks) you should do well in XAT also, in the GK section of XAT mark answers to only those questions that your are confident of. focus on the GK compendiums (of SNAP, IIFT and XAT) in your SIS and also download the GK app.
      There is no sectional cutoff in TISS, the consolidated score is considered for interview short listing.

    I am getting 57 marks in SNAP as per the calculator. I am general candidate from Defence background (father retired from Army).
    Is SIMS is suitable for me..? I have 2.5 yrs of work-ex in IT sector. Is SIMS is worth as per the placements?
    Also please suggest any other good colleges of symbiosis where should I try.

  23. Sir I particularly remember a question in VA section which was wrong. Firther there were wrong questions in quants too. GK was also difficult. Still do u expect the cutoff to go that high?

  35. Sir, according to the score calculator, I’m getting 97. Can vary between 95- 97 though. there is a lot of variance in SIBM cut off. like according to TIME, it is just 80+. and IMS it is 105+. What calls can i expect?

Will the questions be removed or the candidates who attempted those questions will get marks for it since they are the ones who spent time doing those questions or everyone will get the marks for the wrong questions?   38. Sir, I have exactly 90 marks as per CL answer key…My least score is in gk which is 7.5…Scoring Above 25 in rest of the sections…I have filled SIBM P, SCMHRD, SIIB..Do I stand a chance…10/10 in Acad.score.

      • Thanks sir…Just one more thing…Last year, there was a difference of 11 marks in SCMHRD Pune cut off and SIBM-P cut off. But this year it appears to be just 4-5 marks according to your prediction. Why is that?

    Sir, given the difficulty level of SNAP this year, what could be the cut-off score for SIBM(Bengaluru) and SIIB..
    Also, I am getting a score of 63(calculated using SNAP score calculator)… Can I expect calls from these two institutes?

    • Swati, my estimate is that these two institutes will need a score of around 80 and hence a call from these may not be possible for you.

  40. Sir, there was one piechart DI section in which the degrees where adding upto 420. So I feel the question was erroneous. What would be done to those questions? Will they make the questions invalid or provide marks for those who had attempted the questions?

Hi sir, as the difficulty level was considerably on the higher side this year than the previous years..and the prediction you made about SCMHRD’s cut off to be around 90..shall we expect the cut off of SIIB-IB to be in the 75+ range this year?? please reply soon as now i have become really apprehensive about my chance despite of having scoring 95+ consistently in mocks..(expecting 80 max this year snap)

    How much do you think the cutoff with be for SIBM Pune ?

    With my attempts iam looking at a score of 85 to 90 (Being conservative).

    Also i have applied for SIMS pune what will be expected cut off for that too.

    Sir I am a student from Kolkata and I wrote my exam from one of the centers from Kolkata itself the centers name being Guru Nanak Institute of Technology,Kolkata. Sir yesterday when the 800 of us who were allotted the same center sat down to write our Snap Exam we realised that we would have to give one of the most important exam of our career with more than 100 decibels of loudspeakers being played at a park just adjacent to our center .Throughout the 2 hrs duration of the exam not a single child was such who did not raise the issue of the loudspeakers disturbing our concentration levels.We pleaded the invigilators,the authorities but all in vain since till the last second of the exam duration ABSOLUTELY nothing was done about it.Sir we candidates at the center were not able to give even our 50% in the exam due to this disturbance.Could u pls guide us how can we be helped since this was not even our mistake and still we would be the ones who would be suffering.Sir pls guide since I want to raise this issue not only for myself but for the benefit of all those 800 candidates who were subjected to the same torture yesterday at the time of one of the most important exams of our career.Sir pls guide us.

    Sir i wrote snap yesterday and my lr section is very good and i attempted 29 question, but i am sure about one AR question whose answer was not there in the option. as the name of two person in the question were starting with “s”.
    and one filling the blank in english was not right according to me
    though i m not a scholar in english, but stil i found that question wrong. I m sending u that question on whatsup.
    so what do u think all the student will got the marks for these questions. and i think this is the reason that snap admin stop giving back the question paper, bcoz they had a lots of mistake every year.

    I think there was a DI set on pir charts and 5 Quests..
    The total of the different components was adding to 420 instead if 360 as it was in degrees..
    So wat happens to these wrong questions now..?
    Also most of the quant quest had None of the above as the 4th optn..
    Some log questns were also not correct..
    How are these glitches handled by snap ?

      Incorrect questions are either eliminated or marks given to all students.

    Will answer key be released or will exam sheet be generated where we can mark answers by CL?

    Did all Question paper codes have same questions?

  53. Sir, as you mentioned the paper was tougher than last few years, what changes should we expect to see in the cutoff for diff. institute of symbiosis.
    and kindly guide which college to apply if i m expecting a score b/w 75-85………….
