SNAP ‘13 Score Calculator

SNAP ’13 for admission to the 13 management institutes of Symbiosis International University (SIU) was easy to moderate in terms of level of difficulty. While Analytical & Logical Reasoning and QA, DI and DS were similar to SNAP ’12 in terms of difficulty level, the GK and Verbal Ability sections were more difficult.

One of the major changes in the paper pattern that was witnessed this year is that the section on Data Interpretation was a part of the Analytical and Logical Reasoning section and not the Quantitative, Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency section despite the nomenclature. All in all, this year’s SIBM cutoff should be in the range of 102 to 105. We have provided detailed paper pattern, section wise analysis, topic wise difficulty level and expected cutoffs of top colleges in SNAP Exam Corner.

Along with the detailed analysis, the SNAP Exam Corner also features the SNAP’13 Score Calculator and the Percentile Predictor. Management institutes of SIU, this year, will shortlist candidates for the round of Personal Interview – Writing Ability Test (PI-WAT) based on their performance in the SNAP test & their Academic Profile score. The SNAP test score is scaled down to 40 while the Academic Profile Score is scaled down to 10. Effectively 80% weight would be given to your SNAP score and 20% to your APS. The score computed as a sum of 1 & 2 will be the total score and the percentile equivalent will be drawn on this score.

In our SNAP’13 Score Calculator, we have been able to reproduce 149 questions based on memory. In fact, thousands of our students discussed lots of questions with us and a few of these questions stumped our students apparently because of some errors in the questions themselves. One question from the General Awareness section could not be reproduced. Thus your SNAP score is scaled down to out of 40 from your score out of 179 marks. You are also asked to fill in your academic profile detail, which is then rated, and the score is scaled down to out of 10. The score computed as a sum of SNAP Score and Academic Profile will be the total score and percentile equivalent will be drawn on this basis.

The overall score (SNAP score and Academic Profile score) calculated using the data submitted by all of you will enable us to come out with fresh cutoffs by the end of the week. This will allow you to decide if you need to apply to any of the still open SNAP institutes.

      As per the last year cut-offs, you have very bright chances of getting all the calls except SIBM-P, SCMHRD-MBA and SIMS. Chances of conversion depend on your performance in the next round. All the best.

    • Vishal, a call from SIBM Bangalore is unlikely but you should get a call from SIIB-MBA(IB) based on last year’s cutoffs for the SC category.

    • Komal, a composite percentile of 78% should get you a call from SIOM and SCIT for sure. For SITM, you might fall a little short of the cutoff, going by last year’s numbers.

    my composite percentile is – 60.1729. Individual percentiles are –

    Maths – 75.9

    DI – 71.4

    Academic percentile – 33.33 , which i doubt is wrongly calculated as my percentages were 10th – 83%, 12th – 86.4%, Grad – 58.7%

    Is my Academic percentile correct??? Which all institutes can I expect a call from at this percentile?

    • Nidhi, you have lost out in your academic profile because of the graduation marks. They have given zero marks to people with scores below 60%. With a composite percentile of 60%ile, an SC category student can expect calls from all institutes except SIBM Pune and SCMHRD-MBA.

      It is not possible to convert percentile into score with the data in the score card.

    I have a query. I recently got SNAP admit card and my percentile of composite score is 83.1012. My Percentile SNAP score is 86.8175. But i think that my percentile of academic profile score is wrongly calculated. it has been calculated as 62.4631. How can i verify whether my academic profile score is properly calculated or not.     • Gunjan, SSBM is a relatively new institute and yet to establish itself. You can consider it as a back up option. For the placement details please refer to page 84 of the SNAP 2013 bulletin. It does not however give the average salary but my estimate is that it would be in around Rs 4-5 lakh pa.

    • Roshnee, SIIB (IM) is the highest ranking institute/program that is likely at your score.

        • Have u checked in cl calculator correctly though u have 10/10 in your profile u have to get 148.5 /180 in snap exam which is not an ordinary thing why because when we see past 10 years details 123 is the highest mark obtained till now in 2012.

    • Shanmukh, I have been travelling and hence the delay. Apologise for the same.
      What we have given are estimates but while SIBM Pune, Blr or SCMHRD are not possible, I will not totally rule out SIIB. Yes you are a bit below the required score but the googly this year is the AP score and it could lead to reduction in the cutoffs suggested by us. Let us hope for the best.
      Meanwhile focus on XAT as a score of 95%ile can get you calls from good institutes.

  47. Sir your Data out of 3000 students has been taken into account but the percentile prediction is based on those 3000 students (98%le predicted in SNAP is it the same as 98%le among 3000 students ? )
    I would like to ask this question to you because i feel most those 3000 are the most capable ones as they took the pains to find out how well they have done…I still feel 33.75 is a very high cut-off
    Lets see !!

    • Anshu, appropriate corrections have been made for the sample bias.
      Also if we consider a score of 109/180 (last year cutoff) sufficient for SIBM Pune and profile score of 9, you will end up with a score of over 33/50.
      But this is an estimate and we need to wait for the results.

  72. will they first declare the percentile based on snap score and then shortlidt according to this 50 criteria (like iims do) , or will they declare percentiles according to your score out of 50? if the later is the process , isnt this a complete insane scheme. I AM GETTING A RAW SCORE OF 118 IN SNAP THIS YEAR as per cl keys, how could this be possible that a person who has average acads of 7.66 /10 and a person with 10/10 in acads and a score of meagre 99 in snaptest , both receive call for a same college? isnt this eroneous? wont this thing deteriote the level of the students in sibm and schmrd.

    • Abhishek, they would be coming out with percentiles bases on the total (SNAP + AP) score out of 50.
      All institutes keep experimenting and there is nothing that can be done about it.
      118 is a very high score and should result in most of the calls despite 7.66/10.

    • Avinash, Congratulations but this means that you should start your interview preparation immediately. You will have to divide your time between XAT and PDP. At 34.5/50 in SNAP you should get almost all SNAP calls.
      Please start PDP, contact your CL center as IIFT focused batches are planned in all CL centers.

        • Rimjhim, at 12.73, unfortunately you are unlikely to get calls from any of the SNAP institutes. Please focus on XAT and target a score of around 10 marks in each section witha total of 30 marks.

  84. Sir, I could not find a post related to nmat. So I am commenting here. I got 76 in QS, 67 in LS, 60 in LR with an over all score of 203. Can I expect a call from NMIMS Mumbai?

    • Shelly, while your QS and LS scores are okay the overall score of 203 and 60 in LR are below the required score. A call from NM Mumbai is unlikely.

    A little off topic over here, but I got my NMAT result just now.
    Score : QS – 78 , LS – 58 , LR – 70 and OA 206.

    Although, I suppose I’ll be clearing the sectional cutoffs pretty easily, but my concern remains for my OA score.
    Last year , cutoff had been 209 for the mumbai campus, so, any chances this year that cutoff might dip dis year some what (considering the fact that NMAT this year has been up a notch across all sections).
    Also, the NMAT window is over now, so this is my only attempt.

    • Arnab Mitra, apologise for the delay, I was travelling and hence the delay.
      With the exception of IIM A all other IIMs will be open to you. Also CAT scores are required not only for the IIMs but also for other top MBA institutes like SP Jain, MDI, NITIE, IITs etc. The preparation in any case for most of the MBA entrances is similar so preparing for CAT should happen in any case. You have sufficient time at hand so target CAT 2014 because the earlier you do an MBA the better it is for your career.

  90. Reputed GP Sir,I have a very urgent question. How are you speculating the cutoffs for specific colleges at THIS stage?
    I mean suppose an aspirant with excellent communication skills gets less than 24 in the composite score out of 50, but aces the common PI-WAT stage (as it is not specific to colleges from this year), which by the way holds half the weightage of the final score i.e. 50 marks out of 100! Then, if his composite score out of 100, which could be very different in terms of percentage from what it was from 50, could possibly land him a seat in a much better/worse college than the one CL is supposedly speculating as of now.So, how can individual institute cut-offs exist at this stage of admissions?
    SNAP (as per CL) : 27.43 (20.1 + 7.33)

    • Kanad Basu, I hope you are not assuming that all candidates who have written SNAP will be interviewed?
      Please refer to Section 4 B Para 2 on Page 17 of SNAP Bulletin. It clearly states that each institute will communicate its cutoff score to the University.
      Also since you have to apply separately to the MBA institutes, you will be considered by an institute only if you have applied for it and not otherwise. Hence there have to be institute specific cutoffs for the interview.
      The candidates shortlisted by all the SNAP institutes will have a common interview process.
      Hope this clarifies.

  91. Sir. 111.50 score according to score calculator. 32.07 on 50 overall. Can I be hopeful for SIBM or SCMHRD? And why will the cutoff dip as compared to 109 last year sir?

    • naman10, you can be hopeful of a call from at least SCMHRD but wait till tomorrow for our estimated cutoffs based on data submitted by all of you.
      The initial feedback from students about difficult English and GK can be the reason for the dip in scores but for cutoffs we rely only on the Score Calculator data.

        • Shubham, ITM Mumbai can be considered as a backup institute. Start preparing for the interviews. contact your CL center for the PDP schedule.

          • Roshnee, go for the GDPI of ITM, it will be a good practice for your more important interviews. ITM Navi Mumbai can also be considered a back up.

    1)I have filled the e-omr sheet made available in career launcher website,While filling ,for around 10-12 questions I have received a message (For ex ” Answer for qsn no. 34 is not recorded by the system” something like that.)However I proceeded by clicking previous to ensure the answer is recorded properly,but the selected option is showed correctly.In the end I got snap score + AP = 20.8+8.33=29.13…I have also checked manually and got around 104-105 marks.. but the SNAP E-OMR SCORE= 20.8*4.5 IS COMING AROUND 93.5 WHICH IS CONSIDERABLY DIFFERING WITH MANUALLY CALCULATED SCORE FROM THE CL ANSWERS IN EOMR.Is that due to that error (answer not recorded for the qsn ##) ..
    2)Also with snap raw score of 105-106 and Academic profile score of 8.33 ,what bschools can I expect??
    I am very thankful and appreciate the CL’s unique effort on this e-omr…

    Expecting your cutoff scores next… I have scored a decent 35.8 (25.8 +10) … Hoping for some good news…

    Also I have an issue. I marked one digit of the SNAP id wrong in the OMR while darkening. The invigilator could not do anything. So I marked the right one as well. Will my sheet get evaluated against my proper id? I wrote the id correctly twice in the OMR though. Only while marking made this parallex error. Please throw some light on this for me 🙁

      Please contact Symbiosis Test Secretariat immediately. Send them a email, fax a printout and also give them a call. Most probably this will not be a problem but no point in taking chances.
      At 35.8/50 you will get calls from all the SNAP institutes that you have applied to.

    • Aastha, yes you should study from the IRMA GK compendium, question bank is also being uploaded in the SIS. It has very easy QA and Verbal and effectively the GK section leads to calls.
      There are no sectional cutoffs and the cutoff for HRM last year was 84 marks.
