Aur bhi Law School hai zamane me NLU ke siva

With the release of the CLAT results, we see panic both amongst those who get high ranks and those who don’t. This panic is inevitable, too, since students as well as we have been working hard through the year and are therefore eager to know which law school they will finally get. In an attempt to ease at least some of the stress, we’ve created a rough guide to non-NLUs that you can consider if you haven’t done well in SET, AILET or CLAT. Some of these use class XII percentages for their cutoffs, whereas others either use CLAT scores or have their own entrance exams.

Through CLAT Scores: The following institutions use CLAT scores for admission. So anything between 40-70 marks can make you eligible for admission to these colleges. You can check their individual notifications on their websites as and when they come out.

  1. Alliance School of Law, Alliance Univ., Bangalore, Karnataka
  2. IFIM Law College, Bangalore, Karnataka
  3. Narsee Monjee School of Law, Mumbai
  4. ITM, Gurgaon
  5. Institute of Law, Nirma University, Ahmedabad
  6. Lloyd Law College, Greater Noida

5. Army Institute of Law Mohali: The LET is on the June 7th, and application is online. The pattern is the same is the CLAT, except there’s no Maths section.

6. College of Law and Legal Studies, UPES Dehradun: There are two admission pathways: one through class XII scores or LSAT India scores, and the other through the online UL-SAT conducted by the UPES.

7. Jindal Global Law School, SonepatThis law school is a great opportunity for all those people who have given LSAT paper and have missed the CLAT exams or who did not score well in the CLAT paper.

  1. sir I am going to take admission in narsee monjee mumbai for law. sir please tell that is it good college. I am very serious for my law career

    • NMIMS Mumbai is a good college but not in the top league. It has it’s location advantage too. Better would be to retake CLAT next year with good preparation and getting into the top NLUs.

  2. sir, i passed cbse +2 board this year with 94.6% in science stream and want to pursue law. unfortunately, could not crack clat. i have two options, either i join ARMY INSTITUTE of LAW, mohali, or drop a year to sit for clat next year. what should i do?

    • Better would be to give CLAT next year. However, if you do not want to take a complete drop, you may take admission in AIL Mohali and give CLAT again next year.

  3. Hi,
I am getting 96.25 marks in CLAT 2018 and have scored 77.5% in my 12th std. Please suggest which good private colleges can I apply to?

    • At this point of time, even the good private colleges will be through with their admission process. Good colleges always get their seats wrapped up fast. Better would be to retake CLAT in 2019 and aim for the top colleges of law.

    • Shivam, ideally you should go for a retake but if you have to join one of these then possibly ICFAI will be the best.

    • Chitrakshi, law from ICFAI is a decent choice. If you are looking forward to joining a law program this year itself, then you should take it. Otherwise, you can reappear for law exams and try to target top law schools for LLB.

  4. Sir, which law college is better between IMT noida and AMU, aligarh, and in which terms? In which college, one should take admission?

  5. Please help me with my decision.i am from bhubaneswar. I dropped a year to give CLAT and SET exam while temporarily pursuing bcom at BJB college. I gave clat and SET this year and i don’t think i’ll get into any nlu or in symbiosis pune. My mistake was that i didn’t put much effort in the exams, atleast not till a month of the exam was left. and neither did i give any other entrance exam nor did i apply forms in other colleges because i thought my exams went very nice. but i didn’t get into either of them till now and i don’t think i will get either. my clat rank is 2315 with a score of 128.5. i did apply to alliance law school since its deadline isn’t up yet and i was selected for admission in alliance law school. Everyone is advising me to drop another year. some are telling me to join alliance and appear for law entrance exams again(n i will give it seriously this time). some are telling me to continue in 2nd year in bcom and give clat. So basically i have 2 options right now. join alliance and prepare for entrance exams, and switch college if i get a good law college, and if i dont get, continue with alliance. second option is to continue in BJB 2nd year and reappear for entrance exams. if i get a good college, i could go, and if i didn’t, i may complete bcom and then do MBA. im confused about what i should do and what i shouldn’t. please, advise and help me. Please. i need serious help.

    • Akash, if you are inclined towards pursuing a career in law then you can go for LLB three years course from Delhi University. You are eligible for admission after completion of graduation. By the end of third year, if you felt like joining a B-school in future then you can prepare for CAT.

  6. Sir,

My son has scored just 80% in 12th Board (CBSE), 2016.He had given CLAT, SET & LSAT entrance tests. On the basis of his performance, he has provisionally got offer for BBA. LLB programme in ICFAI Law School, Hyderabad, Alliance Law School, Hyderabad, School of law, RNB Global University and GD Goenka, School of Law, Gurgaon. He is a average student. As a parent I am little bit confused regarding his admission. On career and placement ground which will be a better Institute for him.

I need your guidance in this regard. Thanks.

  7. Sir, could you please let me know about the admission procedure for ULC Bangalore? And could also tell me if it is a good college?

    • Priyanka, ULC offers five-years integrated BA LLB course. The admissions in ULC are done on merit basis cum reservation policy by the government of Karnataka. A candidate must have completed his/her 10+2 from recognised board with minimum 45% overall aggregate.

    • Shreeansh, SLS Pune should be preferred over New law college. It is a decent institute known for its faculty and good placements.

  8. I have passed 12th this year i.e in 2015 and have 66% ( SC Category )
can I apply next year for CLAT for Admission in NLS ?
Do Law schools give admission based on your 12th % with CLAT score Or Only On CLAT Score/Rank ?

    • Akangsha, ULC Bangalore should be considered only if you do not have any other option.
Graduation followed by a 3 year law program is also a good option.

  9. You forgot to mention Calcutta University’s 5 year law program, one of the oldest and best Law Program in the country!

  10. Sir I have cleared ipm AT as well as clat (WBNUJS)

This is the summer internship report link of iim ipm please tell me based on this report and other factors what is the future of iim ipm

I can’t post the link please search Google with summer internship in iim I report

    • Go for WBNUJS. IIM Indore offers an IGNOU degree instead of a Bachelor’s. This is a correspondence degree. The only degree that you will have in hand is a diploma from IIM – Indore.

While this may not affect you initially in your career, if you plonk for an Executive MBA after about 4/5 years of work, then the correspondence IGNOU degree may be a deterrent in your admission to top colleges. Remember IIM – Indore is well known in select circles only in India.

      • Ari, suggest that you stick to facts and so not twist them or go by rumours/myths.
        1. WBNUJS is one of the top law institute and will lead to a good career but IPM of IIM Indore is equally good and one should choose based on your interest in law orr management.
        2. IPM offers a Bachelors degree from IGNOU and it is not inferior to other Bachelors degree and will not be a deterrent in case one wants to go for further education or career.
        3. IPM also gives a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) which is legally equivalent to a Post Gradate Degree in Management.
        4. Students from IIM Indore (and other IIMs) have not faced any problem for an Executive MBA or a PhD in India and abroad. However after a PGDM from a top IIM (including Indore) one would normally not go for an executive MBA.
        5. IIM Indore is as well known in the “select circle” of Management and in the Corporate world. Similarly WBNUJS is also known in the “select circle” of legal education and law firms.

    • Hi Shreshtha,
Thanks for sending in the query, please know that its not one of the very good collages , if you have any other collage as an option then depending upon its stature , it can be considered. The placements are not that great but still I would suggest that if you are a good student and can make your mark in the top students , then any collage can be looked upto.
      Thanks TEAM CL
