Aey Bhai, Zara Dekh Ke Chalo – NMAT Form Filling

One of the most upsetting situations that I encounter as a faculty is to interact with a student who did not fill up the application/admission form correctly and hence has to settle for a sub-optimal institute or program. Identifying the right institutes for applying and filing up the forms carefully are as important as preparing and taking the test. While I will be writing separately on which institutes to apply, let me start the series on filling up of application/admission form with NMAT 2014 application.

Admission to the seven MBA programs of NMIMS offered in three different campuses, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, is through a common written test – NMIMS Management Admission Test (NMAT).  Let us go through the NMAT application form and identify the possible mistake areas.

  • Registration: Register for NMAT 2014 at https://nmat.formistry.com/, make sure you fill up the data carefully. Multiple or duplicate registrations can lead to rejection of application and forfeiture of the fee.
  • Personal Details
    • Parent’s Name: You need to enter your Father’s Name exactly as it is printed in your HSC/SSC mark sheet or certificate. Copy the name exactly as it is on the mark sheet. Do not convert initials to full name or vice-a-versa. Mother’s name is not an issue.
    • Identity Proof: NMAT requires identification proof for Photograph and Signature. While your passport can take care of both the requirements, it is advisable to have two different IDs for photograph and signature. Some of you may not have a PAN Card or Passport, apply for it immediately. While a Passport will take time you can get a PAN Card in a couple of weeks. You can apply for PAN Card at http://www.utiitsl.com/
      • Photo ID: Only your Passport and PAN Card are acceptable Photo ID. Go for the ID that has a more recent photograph.  Many a times the passport photograph is dated and in such cases the PAN Card should be preferred.
      • Signature ID: The acceptable IDs in this case are Passport, PAN Card, ATM Debit Card, Credit Card and Driving license. Please ensure that your signature is clearly visible.
    • Special Needs: NMAT is among the few MBA entrance tests that cater to the requirements of differently-abled students. Do mention your specific disability. The students who have any specific requirement must fill in the details in the online application while registering, scan their Disability Certificate and email it together with their NMAT ID and name, to nmatspecialrequirements@pearson.com at least five days prior to their scheduled test date. Each application will be reviewed and appropriate assistance will be made available at the test centre. Pearson VUE will contact the candidates to ensure proper assistance.
  • Education/Work Experience
    • Class 12th / Diploma Details: Students who have attended a Junior College for class XI and XII should choose State Board for XII/HSC Board.
    • Graduation Details:
      • Candidates who have not completed their graduation should choose “appeared”.
      • “Appeared” (final year of graduation) students should give their last available percentage.
      • “Do you have academic break” should be answered in affirmative if you dropped a year after class XII or had to drop out of college for some time during graduation. If you have completed graduation but do not have a job, it is not an academic break.
  • Program Details: This is extremely important and an error here can be damaging because the preferences given here cannot be changed later. Go thorough the program details on www.nmims.edu, spend some time understanding the programs, consider your interest areas and then finalize your order of preference.
    • Program Name: While NMIMS Mumbai  is among the top 25 MBA institutes in India and offers a MBA degree from of NMIMS University, the NMIMS Bangalore and Hyderabad campus are ranked significantly lower and offer an AICTE approved PGDM. My suggestion will be to apply for MBA (Full Time) and PGDM. Even if you are not very keen on the Bengaluru and Hyderabad campuses, it will be prudent not to close these options at this point of time as the incremental cost is only Rs 400/-
    • MBA (Full Time Preferences): Based on the reputation and the placement opportunities of the various MBA programs of NMIMS Mumbai, my order of ranking is given below. Apply for MBA HR only if you are sure about specializing in this area.
      • MBA
      • MBA HR
      • MBA Banking
      • MBA Capital Market
      • MBA Pharmaceutical Management
    • PGDM Preferences: Bengaluru should be preferred over Hyderabad because it is an older program and offers location advantage as well.
    • Campus Preferences: Mumbai is the first preference followed by Bengaluru. Hyderabad is the least preferred among the three.
  • Test Date and Number of Attempts
    • NMAT allows you to 3 attempts, however; do not do not plan for a retake. Consider the retake option as an insurance that you should hopefully not need. So choose a date based on when you think you will be well prepared. NMAT declares the results in batches (once every two weeks) so an early date is preferable as it will give you sufficient time to improve on your weak areas if you need to go for a retake. Since NMAT takes the highest score of the three attempts you do not lose anything in a retake except the retake fee of Rs 2000/-.
    • The NMAT test window is from 5th October to 18th December 2013 while the CAT window is from 16th October to 11th November 2013. You can consider CMAT and NMAT as two extra Mock CATs. It will be hence advisable to schedule NMAT about 10-12 days before your planned CAT date so that you have sufficient time to work on the weak areas identified in NMAT. However, those of you who may not be well prepared till October end should plan to take NMAT 10-12 days after CAT.
  • Photograph
Use a recent photograph as per the guidelines given by NMAT. In the past, students have faced problems at the test center because of photograph mismatch.
  • Editing the application form
You can edit certain fields like present address and academic background in their application form till you receive confirmation from NMIMS of receipt of fee paid for registrationPleasecheck the information entered in the online registration application form carefully while registering and again before making payment as changes will not be allowed at a later stage.

Finally, do not delay the registration process. Test slots are filled on a first come first served basis hence apply early to ensure that you get your preferred date.

  1. Sir, I wanted to ask that I gave my 12 in 2013 but i got compartment and hence I cleared it on 2014 and took admission in engineering in 2014 itself and completed my graduation on 2018 .
Will i be eligible to give exam?

  2. I had two years of academic gap in BE electrical engineering with aggregate of 65% , hsc and 10th is 76.5% and 71%
Will the college like nmims consider me for the mba program in the core field like marketing , finance, HR .

    • Dear Shahir, the cut-off for NMIMS Mumbai is around 208 an that for other campuses is around 200. Shortlisting is done only on the basis of your NMAT score. In short, yes, you will be considered if you cross the cut-off marks.

  3. Sir i have filled the application form for nmims for retake 1 in which i applied for mba and mba hr but did not apply for nmims bangalore and hyderaband. I have scored 207 in this attempt. How can i apply for bangalore and hyderabad with that score?

  4. B.Tech in 9 semesters (4.5 yrs) with 66% aggregate and no work ex. Am i eligible for NMIMS? (Their website mentions 50% aggregate in first attempt!)

  5. i have entered Hemata Gupta instead of Hemlata Gupta in Nmat by gmac form . already paid the exam fees. please help, what can i do?

  6. I have scored 72% in class 10th and 12th. I have a decent score of 91% in BBA from Christ University, BLR. I have a work experience of 1 year and a decent NPAT score of 210+ will I face any problem in getting a call from SPJIMR/ NMIMS for MBA in Marketing or any other specialisation in that case?

  7. Sir my merit no for NM Bangalore phase 2 is 275. I am in the wait list do I have any chance of converting it and should I go for NM Hyderabad is it a nice option to go for.
    Thanks in advance

    • Abhishek, you have decent chances of converting NM Bang. However, you should aim for better colleges. You should retake CAT and the other MBA exams.

  8. Sir, my merit no is 1663 for nmims bangalore? It’s in waitlist. What are my chances and by when will I get to know the results.
    Thanks in advance.

    • Sachin, there is a slim chance of converting the call. However, you can be hopeful for a convert since there would be a mass exodus from the waitlist once the final result of the IIMs and the better B-schools come out.

  9. sir,
    I have scored 7.2 cgpa in 10th , 92% in 12th and 60% in bcom
how much importance these marks have in whole admission process of mumbai and bangalore campus ?
and does scoring more in nmat above the cut off assures you more of getting selected ??

    • Sahib, marks of X, XII and graduation are important for all B schools but in most institutes they have a lo weight. In case of NMIMS the interview calls are based only on your NMAT score and for final selection it is your performance in the interview process that is the most important factor. A high NMAT score can increase your chances of selection but will not guarantee selection.

  10. Sir
    I have converted NMIMS Bangalore.
I have 2years 8 months of experience in IT Industry.
    Should I join ?

    • Pooja, there are many better B-schools present in the country. You should be looking at Executive MBA the next year.

  11. sir,
Could you please give me your honest opinions about NMIMS bangalore and how it compares to welingkar ?
    P.S i converted NM bangalore 😀

  12. Rank 1280 in NMIMS Core and 857 in MBA HR. Any chances of converting in the second list of NMIMS Mumbai?

  13. HI, Sir

I have given my nmat in third window and have got a score of 207, with 79 in qa, 62 in va and 66 in lr, any chances of call from nmims mumbai?

    Regards

  14. Hello All,

Need your kind help and suggestion regarding the below. I have scored 192 OA in NMAT 2015.

    QS-70
    LS-56
    LR-66

I have 3 years of work experience.

Would it be poss to get a call from Mumbai Campus? as till date trend show the cutoff is generally 205+.

Would work experience help? Please suggest.

    • Nits, the interview call is based purely on the NMAT score and I do not think that NMIMS Mumbai call will be possible below 207. Also in your case the QS score could also be below the sectional cutoff. If possible go for a retake with a minimum target score of QS 75, LS 55, LR 65 and overall 210.

  15. Dear Sir,

I have scored 195 in my first NMAT attempt this year.
    Sectionals: QS – 66, LS – 61, LR – 68.

I know the score isn’t enough for a call and will be giving a second attempt. What should be the ideal score in my second attempt, both overall and sectionally in order to secure a call from Bangalore and Mumbai?

  16. Hello sir. i’ve filled the nmat form 2015. but I forgot to select nmims programs. what should i do now so that my nmat scores get auto submitted to the colleges of my preference?

  17. Sir, there are a number of new colleges that accept NMAT 2015 scores like AMITY, Woxen, Munjal, Shoolini etc. How good are these and is it worth applying to them?

    • SMF, you should aim for the better colleges under NMAT. CAT has a lot of colleges that require a decent CAT percentile.

  18. sir by mistake i have written wrong spelling of my father’s surname .will this lead to rejection of my application form .

  19. Hi sir,
While filling the form I made a mistake in my work details and I have got the registration mail . Can I make changes or re-register again.

    • Shradha, you must confirm it with the NMAT authorities whether there will be a chance to correct the incorrect entries.

  20. Hi Sir,

I have filled the form for NMAT exam and booked the slot also. Do i need to apply seperately for NMIMS Mumbai, i.e. is college registration separate from exam?

  21. I registered for NMAT few days before and today I tried registering for NMIMS Mumbai. In the form, the first question is :Have you registered for NMAT. When I checked Yes, it asked for my registration ID but when I types it says “Registration Status:Not Verified”. Is that fine? Please help.
Also, my father’s name is Rajendra Kumar Agarwal but my HSC Certificate says “Kr” instead of “Kumar”. what should I fill in the application form?

  22. Sir, while filling up the form they asked Did you have any break? I dropped after 12th. So,First I wrote Yes, Then the options were 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th year. So, I changed it with No. I called the helpline they said it’s okay. We just needed to confirm if you have had gaps in engineering or not.
But in the comments you mentioned that gap after 12th isnt allowed.
Can you help me with the same?

    • Palak, since NM has confirmed that the gap after XII is not a problem you should go ahead with the application.

  23. Hi GP sir,

I have merit list rank of 1381. is there any chance that I will be able to get into NMIMS Mumbai?

  24. Sir I got 192 (quant-69 LS-56 LR 67) is there any chance of getting a call from bang/Hyderabad campus?though I have taken a retake but I don’t think there will be a much difference in my marks.

    • Malini, at 192 call is unlikely from NM Hyd and Bangalore, my estimate is that a score of at least 200 will be needed. Also your QA score should be at least 72.

  25. Hi Sir, during filling my form I applied for mba full time. By mistake I did not apply for pgdm bangalore and pgdm hyderabad. By any means can I apply for both the colleges as the registration is closed now. Thank you.

    • Rohit, unfortunately change is not possible after payment but you could contact NMAT helpline and put in a request.

  26. Sir,
I entered wrong DOB in my NMAT form. Can it be rectified?
Secondly, I wanted to know whether the NMAt mocks in SIS are of the same level as actual NMAT exam. I attempted NMAT FLT-1 and scored 231 with sectional scores as:
    LS: 57
    QA: 108
    LR: 66
    Is this score good enough?

    • Tiesta, it may not be possible to change the date of birth but pelase contact NMAT helpline for this.
The NMAT mocks are are the right level but in the actual exam there is greater pressure and you can expect your attempts/score to be lower than what you have score here. While your QA is fine you should target around 5 more marks in LS and LR because the cutoff in NMAT in the last 2-3 years has been LS 55, LR 61-65, QA 70-76 and an overall score of 208-210.

  27. hello sir i got compartment in my 12 class and cleared it in next year and i did not filled academic break in my form of nmat is that a problem or not

  28. Hi, I had a 1 year break after my 2nd year B.tech. While filling NMAT form when I select “Yes” and “2nd Year”, It does not allow me to submit the form and shows error that must meet eligibility criteria. I have completed degree in 2012 july. and have exp of 2 years. what should I do?

    • JAtin, unfortunately students with a break in academics are not eligible for NMIMS and hence you will not be able to apply. This is a stupid rule but this is a prerogative of the institute. Focus on the others MBA entrances and institutes.

  29. Dear GP sir,

I have a doubt. When entering middle name in applicant name in NMAT form they say “Only parents first name should be enetered without surname in middle name” My name as per HSC is Ravi Kant Pathak. So should i fill ‘Kant’ in middle name or my Father’s first name without surname?
Same question is for filling parents name where in instructions they have written “Write your parents name as per HSC” but just above the box they have written “enter Father/Mother’s first name”.So my ques is should i write my parents complete name as written in HSC or just the first name of my parents as per the line written above the boxes??
    Please reply sir…

    • Dear Ravi,

This is an error. The instruction “Only parents first name should be entered without surname in middle name” should be applicable for only parent’s names. Which is why, for either parent’s name, only one box (for their first name) has been provided. The instruction “Only parents first name should be entered without surname in middle name” is NOT applicable for your name. Thus, since your name in HSC is Ravi Kant Pathak, you should fill Kant in the middle name box for your name. Your name should be filled in exactly as per your HSC record. In the parent’s name boxes, you should fill either parent’s first name ONLY. Do not enter either their middle name or their surname.

      • Dear Cl team,

I asked this thing to them on their helpline no. and they said you should write “Ravi Kant” in first name and “Pathak” in last name and leave the middle name box empty,so that when i print my admit card my name will come as given in HSC.So i did the same. Also in my admit card my name is shown like: First name : Ravi Kant
        Last name : Pathak
and in HSC it’s “Ravi Kant Pathak”.
Will it create some problem?I did as they said.

As far as parents’ name is concerned,i filled my both parents’ first name only. They said, they will take surname from my name for my parents’ name.

  30. Thank you sir! I heard that nm doesn’t accept gap taken after graduation. I am not planning to do a job during the break but study for the mba entrances.if this is the case will I be eligible for nmat 2016???

    • Rucha, you will be eligible, NM does not accept break between XII and graduation or during graduation. Since you have completed graduation it will not be a problem.
      Please ignore my earlier response.

  31. Sir,
i have completed my BE in Nov 2013. i was supposed to complete it by june 2013 but because of 1 back paper there was a delay of 5 months. i didn’t attend any classes in the mean time ,i just gave the exam in november and cleared it. Am i eligible to write NMAT exam?

i tried contacting the nmims office but they themselves seemed confused.

  32. Sir, I am 3rd year bba student. I am planning to take a break after third year to study for the mba entrances since am unable to do it now. so will I be eligible to give nmat 2016??

  33. Sir, I am doing my BBA which is a 3 yr course.. During the last year my attendance was low so i have to repeat the year.. So my under graduation will be completed in 4 years instead of 3.. am i eligible for admission in nmims and other colleges.. i have 72% aggregate

i was confused as nmims site says minimum 50% in first attempt..

    • Archit, as per the NMIMS website you will not be eligible because you have completed a 3 year program in 4 years. however do write/call their helpline to confirm.

  34. Dont lose hope.. even till today there are so many withdrawls coming up (as per various forums).. i am sure another list will come soon

  35. No more list !!
    It’s all over… !!
    Admissions closed !!
Even the admission link has been removed from NM’s website…!!

  36. Called up the AO..they said that there won’t be any 5th list. It seems that the number of buffer calls were very high to negotiate even the last minute cancellation of admissions.Hard luck to waitlisters (me included) 🙁

    • This is baffling…how can they be so accurate with the buffer calls..???..Last time there were 2 waitlists on 24 may and june 4…so why is the same trend not being followed by NM..?

    • this has happened before so we cannot take the guy’s word ( who spoke no list on phone ). Though i am not saying that there will be certainly a list but yes, still there are chances that there will be movement. Reasons:
      1. how can the number of buffer calls be exact especially when the last list came out hardly when there were any other results declared.
      2. still many other top colleges haven’t finalized their lists(MDI, NITIE etc.), so possibility of a movement.
Again i would mention that there may or may nor be a list but certainly we cannot take that guy’s word to be the final word.

  37. From the information posted on other forums by the selected candidates, it is clear that more than 100 of them have withdrawn the admission. And a lot of them are waiting to get confirmed in the new IIMs (too many of them are waitlisted). I think that the delay in IIMs result this time is also causing the delay by NMIMS in releasing the next waitlist.

  38. GP Sir,
What do u think is most likely to happen abt NM ? Coz u predicted t cut-off perfectly! Ur guesstimates are awaited.

    • Lakshmi, I am just waiting for NMIMS to come out with the list. Not estimating anything for it since my calculations have so far proved to be incorrect.

      • @GP sir — Just like chankya had predicted that BJP will get 340 seats and everybody said it is a rubbish exit poll..

For us waitlisters, you are our chankya.. you have said merit rank upto 1500 will convert, we are positive that it will happen.. 🙂

        • Yes lets hope atleast people till 1500 will convert!! Gp sir’s predictions are alaways right. His predictions on iift cut off was also spot on.

  39. The entire idea of buffer calls in non-sense… It does nothing but create confusion for the candidates and extra work for the college admin.

In my opinion regular list should be followed…

XLRI tried to give buffer calls this year and it back fired heavily on them…. Even MDI is feeling the pinch of buffer calls… Sad state of affairs.. I hope Modi Sarkar changes the system…

  40. I wanted to ask 1 thing. Suppose in the next waitlist 200 people are called (Quite possible) but 100 of them dont join. Then will NMIMS keep on calling the candidates on the basis of their ranks until all their seats are occupied ? I mean do they leave some seats empty at the end or they try to fill all the 500 seats ?

      • abc, you are correct. Pure business logic – a vacant seat is a loss of revenue for the same expenditure.

        • @GP Sir — But it was not the case last year… Last year the sanction intake was of 360 seats but after the last list i.e on 4th June, many candidates left and so they did not filled those seats.. the current batch strength is of 320.. i.e 40 seats are empty 2013-15 batch…

Now we don’t know whether it was a one time exception because of that scandal or even this year NM will keep the seats empty !! Lets hope for the best..

          P.S- Merit Number 1411 🙁

  41. I have many reasons to believe that the predictions of GP sir regarding the waitlist movement will come out as true.

    1. Last list of NMIMS was declared on 5th April. At that time only 2 or 3 other top colleges had come up with their list. So initially, a lot of candidates (who didnt have any other convert from B-school till then) took admission just to confirm their seats.

    2. From April till date, result of 13 new IIMs is declared (IIMS have around 3333 seats , arnd 1800-1900 for general candidates i guess). + FMS + MDI + XLRI + NITIE + SPJAIN +IIFT + SJMSOM .That means more than 800 seats. That means results of 4000 seats of those colleges are declared that are ranked above NMIMS after the last list of NMIMS.

Obviously, nobody can predict correctly the overlapping of candidates in various colleges. But if 500 selected students of NMIMS are a part of these 4000 students, then surely we can expect a huge movement in the coming days.

    • @Rohan, that is the logic which even GP sir explained but nobody except the NMIMS Admissions team knows the number of buffer calls given (ie. the number of students who have taken admission out of 1073 and the number of cancellations that have taken place.) In such a scenario anything from a meagre movement to a drastic one can take place, let’s hope for the best.

      • Friend, is it really possible that in the 1st waitlist movement 70 students were called..just to increase the number of buffer seats.I dont think so Means if they already had more than 500 joinees after initial result, why would they ask for more buffer calls ?

    • Aayega aayega… everyone within 1500 merit rank.. keep your fingers crossed…. 🙂

there will be 2 lists – one around 17-20th may and then one around 1st June..

  42. @sagar-I dnt think that the scam led to the waitlist movement…It led to expulsion of students after the session started and that is why the current batch has 320-330 students only instead of 360 which was the original intake

    • @rohit – Are you sure that it was because of the expulsion of candidates that lead to empty seats.. Because the racket was unearthed on 3rd May.. and the next list came on 24th May..

I think they removed all the fraud candidates and then published the new list on 24th May.. If what you are saying is true that they went ahead with normal Merit list movement and then sacked the fraud candidates then it is a good news for us…

      • As has been mentioned, last year also the two waitlists came out on 24 may and june 4….this year should also follow a similar trend…Also last year the total movement in these two lists was 127..but this time more seats and also initial movement has been a lot more..(1075 as opposed to 660) so movement more than 127 can be expected in the upcoming waitlists….

  43. GP Sir ,
Which one to choose among IMI(converted) ,IMT(WL 217) and NMIMS(WL 1098).As i have already paid fees for IMI but i have gut feeling i will clear both NM and IMT G .

    • Sir same doubt between NMIMS and IMT G.I am also waitlisted in both. Hoping to clear both in next waitlist movement .

    • Dhruv, NMIMS is the my preference, it has not only better placements but is also higher ranked.
IMT G and IMI both have similar average placements. IMTG is the higher ranked institute but it has a bigger batch size of around 600 and if you are among the bottom 1/3rd then you will struggle for placements. IMI is on the other hand is a safer institute due to its smaller batch size.

      • Sir, when you say bottom one-third, does it mean in terms of academic performance during the two years of MBA? And how much does the academic performance during MBA affect our prospects of being shortlisted by a company for their placement process?

        • JAydeep, shortlisting by companies is usually on the basis of your performance in the program and the easiest measure is your CGPA.

  44. @GP sir – I have converted IIM Shillong and have already paid the fees at NMIMS..
Which one I should take ?? kindly guide..

  45. @ravi : Sir,sorry, was jus trying finding out a logical premise.Aspirant stuck at 1339. hope we all make out.Was jus guessing plausibility 🙂

      • @LAkshmi and @Ravi,
relax guys it is difficult time for all off you waiting for the waitlist to move but all of us are on the same side and trying to make some sense of what is happening.

  46. @Ravi :
Sir, 200 withdrawals is too much of an optimistic estimate!
127 have only withdrawn last year,if u see! 660-787 that is…and don u think there are buffer calls to absorb the withdrawals?

And as u say even if it is 575 ppl now and some 200 ppl opt out, they’ll need another 125 only..it’ll close out with 1200 mostly

      • why so much speculation about waitlist ,If you have better calls go for them else hope for the best.GP sir has done estimation on basis of his experience
        #Respect GP Sir

  47. @Ravi, u mean 1450-1073=377 ppl withdrawing and absolutely no buffer calls?
Coz if there were buff calls.more than 377 shud withdraw.

    • don’t u think There will be people beyond 1073 who have converted other colleges. Everyone needn’t perform equally for every gd/pi process. So 400 needn’t withdraw for merit list to cross 1500. Logically it should be that way I guess.

    • @lakshmi – if 377 people will withdraw then the convert merit list will cross 1450 …
As per my calculation, out of 1075 people 550-575 must have booked the seat. Since almost all the result are out, by mid may around 200 people should withdraw.. so seats booked will be 350 around.. for 150 empty seats NM must give another 250 calls..
My May end IMO another 50-75 people will withdraw.. so to cover that NM will give another 100 calls..
So i think there is a chance of another 350 calls.. that is close to 1450 merit rank..

      @GP Sir – any thoughts..?

        • @GP Sir,
For the last couple of days, you don’t seem to be confident with your analysis… What is on your mind Sir ?

          • Ravi, I am confused with the lack of movement in the waitlist. Hopefully there will be one big waitlist that will come out in a few days.

          • @GP Sir,

this was the WL movement pattern last year:-

Declaration of 1st Merit List: 5-Mar-13 —– Merit rank till 660 converted.

Maybe we can expect the same this year too..

  48. Sir, I’ve a merit no of 1429.. Is there still a chance for me to convert nmims-core? Asking because there has been no list since a month..

  49. GP Sir,
Do you still believe that merit rank till 1500 can convert NMIMS Mumbai Core has they have not put any new list for the last one month.. ??

    • Ravi, I am still hopeful but am intrigued by “no new list” since there are many students who have IIM calls and have opted out.

      • Sir, I think they will take out one big list in the last week of May as they had done last year.
Last year after the 4th list (on 10th April), the 5th list came out on 24th May. In my opinion its their strategy to ensure that they don’t have to bother about taking care of continuous admission and cancellation.. So they put the list in the last week of may so that only those who are interested join the course and not just unnecessarily book the seat..
        Fingers crossed – Merit Number 1411 🙁

  50. Sir, many people around are saying that NM’s placement report is highly inflated. How far is this true? I have merit no. 1101…so if I convert, should I go with it? No other options…

    Profile:
    10th, 12th- 80+
    BE mech- 60%

    Fresher..

    • Prince, to the best of my knowledge almost all institutes tend to inflate their placement reports and you should look at them primarily to compare the institutes. To get an idea of the actual salary you should reduce the reported salary by 20%.
Your merit number should convert and you should join NMIMS.

  51. Sir,ABC and NITIE are out and I actually see a lot of overlap and withdrawals as u said, regarding NMIMS case 🙂 U wer right!

      • Sir even if your estimates are correct , the biggest concern which can act as an obstacle for ppl in the range 1100-1400 is the buffer calls. Even if there is a significant overlap between ppl from NM and other B- schools, most of it can be absorbed by the buffer..since in the 3rd and the 4th list there was no movement at all in the waitlist. If NM has given around 800 final calls for admission (300 buffer), then there won’t be much movement even after results from other colleges. So how much do you reckon would be the buffer calls given by NM, Sir ??

        • Jaydeep, as far as i know for the merit rank covered till now i.e 1075, only around 475-550 candidates have taken admission… So the buffer can be atmost of around 50-75… which i think will be absorbed by the result of MDI and NITIE only.. forget other 12-13 b schools..
What do u think GP SIR??

      • Sir please don’t doubt your estimates… based on your prediction, candidate like me are optimistic of an NM convert… as per Pagalguy forums there are some overlaps but still I am not able to figure out much merit rank will it cover…

  52. Thank u sir, for the hope! Lets see. What s scaring me is last year waitlist was at merit no 660 by april mid week..as iim’s n others came out wit their results, went off to 787 and stopped there..which is jus abt 125 withdrawals

  53. Sir,1000 calls dhe dhiye unhon ne first list mein,500 seats ke liye!agar merit no.(not wl. no)1350 ko convert milni hai,tho 850 ko withdraw karna padaega, right??ye kaise ho saktha hai sir?you think ye ho saktha hai?aapka perdction jo hai,1000+1000,uske liye tho 1000 withdrawals honi chaiye,na? Hope i m making sense.Idea is not to argue on ur estimates, sir 🙂

      • Sir till now the last merit convert is 1073 (as per the forum on pagalguy.com) and not 1150 as you have mentioned above…
Sir do you think merit number 1411 has a chance ?

    • Lakshmi, considering the movement till now 850 looks difficult but another 500 should happen. Most of these institutes are better than NMIMS Mumbai and due to the cost of NM (Rs 17 lakh) the IITs become attractive.

  54. Sir,

My merit list number is 1484.
Do I stand a chance. Will there be any lists after the fourth list published on April 10th.

    Regards,
    Mathews

    • Mathews, 1484 should get converted. We will get more wait lists as the IIMs, FMS and most of the IITs have not declared their results as yet and the withdrawals on account of XLRI and IIT Mumbai are yet to take place.

        • mathews, IIM reults will start coming our around 15-20th April and the successful students will apply for a refund after confirming their admission to IIMs. So he waitlist movement should happen by end April or begining May.

  55. GP Sir,
Today the fourth list came out and still there was no movement.Does this mean that there is some buffer already with NM.By the most conservative estimate, how much can the NM waitlist move.I am stuck at 1241 and it is giving me the jitters..

    • Shrey, we can only wait and hope for the best. XL and IIT Mumbai have come out with their results just a couple of days ago and NMIMS would receive the withdrawal requests only after the students confirm their admissions.

    • Lakshmi, XL and IIT Mumbai have come out with their results just a couple of days ago and NMIMS would receive the withdrawal requests only after the students confirm their admissions. NMIMS will have to come out with another list.

  56. Sir, my merit number is 1339!People say only 100 seats ll move aftr IIM’s,XL’s, NITIE and all declare their results,as the same happened last year! But can I guess that ur prediction of movement of 1000 is based on ppl opting out coz of NM’s disadvantage of an increased batch size?

    • Lakshmi, my reasoning is that the IIMs, XLRI, FMS, MDI, NITIE and IIT Mumbai together have around 5000 seats between then and a 20% overlap could lead to the waitlist moving by 1000. The 20% could be a liberal estimate but a movement of 100 looks very conservative.

      • Yes,100 does look conservative!!IIFT’s,XL,XIMB out..Can we expect atleast a movement of 20 to 30 now? And a 6% overlap would fetch me a seat.Given this,is it possible i might get a seat?And frm ur past experience,how many of the 2289 are iim-called candidates,generally?

        • Lakshmi, impact of IIFT has already happened and XIMB will not lead to any movement in the waitlist. XLRI and SJSOM (IIT Mumbai) should lead to a movement of 100-150 in the waitlist. My guess is that you will need to wait till the end of April for a confirmation.
I have not tracked the overlap between NMIMS and IIMs so can only give an estimate.

  57. Sir, Which one to prefer for finance??I have converted IMT-G pgdm finance….waiting for imi,kjsom…..waitlisted at 1277 for nmims-bang….others calls are gim, liba, fore…

    • Amit, IMT G followed by IMI are my preferences. IMTG has a large batch size of around 600 and you should be among the top 2/3rd to ensure a good placement (over Rs 10 lakh pa). The bottom 1/3rd struggle for placements and usually end up with a package in the range of Rs 7-9 lakh pa.

  58. Dear Sir,

For the 2013-15 batch, for a total of 360 seats, the last person to convert had merit number 780. So, for the 2014-16 batch, for 500 seats, don’t you think the final convert will have merit number around 1080 i.e. (500*780/360) ?? As per your estimates, person having merit rank 2000 ( 1000 +1000) also stands chance to convert. Don’t you think this number is a bit too far fetched. If not, then how the scenario this year is different from that of previous year so that even a guy with merit rank 2000 has chance to convert. Please let us know Sir.

    • Jaydeep, NM Mumbai is already at merit number 1075. The IIMs, FMS, XLRI, top IITs, MDI and NITIE have about 5000 seats between then and a 20% overlap will lead to a significant movement in the wait list of all institutes.

      • But sir last year before the IIM,MDI,XLRI results were out..i.e till the third list the merit no called was till 680, meaning that there was a jump of approx 100 only since the last convert was at 787 for 326 seats ( i heard that’s the batch size of 2013-2015 FTMBA)..and this year the scenario is more or less the same coz apart from NM none of the IIMS or MDI,XLRI,NITIE etc have increased their seats, so dont u think that adding 1000 more ppl is a lil too much since they have already called 1000 people. I am not questioning your judgement, your 20% overlap theory seems to be quite logical but the previous year trend shows a different picture altogether. And because of discrepancy in CAT VA scores ,there are people who’ve just had NM as their best call, so expecting a wait list movement may not be possible as anticipated.

        • Shweta, last year the batch size was 360 but I am not aware of the merit rank till which NM Mumbai admitted students last year so would I not be able to comment on the same. These are my estimates and yes they could be off the mark. However I am reasonably sure that from the current merit rank of 1075 there will be a significant movement once the top institutes declare their results. A zero overlap between NMIMS and these institutes is not possible.

  59. Hi Sir,

My NMAT merit number is 1098. By seeing your above replies , I can see that I have a fair chance. But Sir, will it be a wise decision to put my papers now since I have a notice period of 3 months to serve in my current organisation.Other calls :- IMT(WL 217), IMI, FORE,KJSOM.
PS: By 3rd merit list , people till Merit No. 1075 have been call so far for admission.

    • Dhruv, putting in your papers now is reasonably safe, I expect both NM and IMT to convert once the IIMs, XLRI, IIT Mumbai, NITIE and FMS come out with their results.

  60. Sir,how is Nmims Hyderabad..?I have converted nmims Hyderabad and imt Nagpur..where should I join..?

    • Avanish, NM Hyderabad is a new institute and at present IMT Nagpur is ranked higher but NM Hyd has shown better placements than IMT Nagpur and is likely to be a better choice due to its location. My choice is hene NM Hyderabad.

      • Sir,i have 2.5 years of IT experience..my present ctc is 3.5l..considering that how good is NMIMS Hyd..i want to do MBA this year only..

        • Avanish, if there are no other options then go ahead with NM Hyderabad. It is a good upcoming institute with decent placements. Hopefully by the time you graduate in 2016 it would have improved its ranking significantly.

  61. Sir,i want to go for mba in finance, and think nm is a big brand name.so wish to go for nm bang..should i or nt?

  62. Hello sir,

My NM merit rank is 1423. Everybody is telling that even after the result of IIMs, FMS, MDI,IITs and NITIE waitlist will move by 150 max i.e. till merit rank 1225 approx. What are my chances of conversion?

    Thanks

      • Adarsh, the IIMS, FMS, XLRI, IITs and NITIE between them have around 5000 seats and a 20% overlap will lead to a movement of 1000, or merit ranks upto 2000 have a chance.

  63. Sir I am waitlisted for nmims mumbai’s full time mba core program. my merit no is 1429. what are my chances? thank you..

    • Anon, you will most probably convert but only after the IIMs, FMS, NITIE and IITs come out with their results.

    • Anshita, NM Bangalore is a good institute and provides decent placement opportunities. The location is also an advantage.
      What are your options?

      • actually didnt got gud percentile in cat..so snap was 95.6..nmat 195..and siib ,siom are other options..

        • Anshita, Between NM Bangalore, SIIB and SIOM my preference will be for SIIB since it is an oder institute with better placement record than the other two. While SIIB offers MBA in IB the placements are similar to what you can expect from a general MBA program.

    • Confused Soul, NMIMS is my preference despite its higher fee due to its better placement record and location.

  64. Merit No: 1606. What are the chances for NM Mumbai ?
Considering the 3rd list is out and there has been no movement.

  65. GP sir,
I have a merit number of 1241 in NMIMS FTMBA..considering that they have given converts upto a merit number of 1000,what are my chances of converting the call..???

      • SIR,actually merit number upto 1000 have already cleared. So at merit number 1241 my waitlist number is technically 241…or do you mean that there will be no waitlist movement..???

        • Shrey, our terminologies are creating confusion. Wait list Vs Merit Number. Upto merit number 2000 are likely to get converted.

          • Thanks a lot Sir.It means that in all probability i can hope to convert. It is quite reassuring to have that response from you..

    • Sir my merit no is 1275 (i.e wait list no 275, after 1000 initial calls). Now they have called up to merit list no upto 1075 in second list on 19.03.2014. Considering that wait list has moved by 75 only, can I still expect to get a convert?

  66. Hi Sir,

Great Lakes Gurgaon or NMIMS Bangalore ?? I have 3 years of work exp in IT industry .. I am interested in HR and Finance .. I have converted both of them.. Which is a better choice overall ??

    • Debalina, ideally you should leave both, take GMAT and try for ISB hyderabad. However between these two my preference will be GL Gurgaon PGPM since it will save you an year and is likely to provide slightly better placement over NM Bangalore.

  67. Hi Sir,

Please could you throw some light on the prospects of doing MBA from Narsee bangalore. Only convert so far, IMI, fore KJ pending. Need to pay the firsth year fees. Is it a worth?? 2 yrs exp, would be preferring operations. considering I cannot wait for another year and this was my last MBA attempt. I have not been getting any good and motivating reviews about NIMS Bangalore.
    NMIMS mumbai waitlisted 1174

    • Vikas, NM Bangalore is a decent institute and can be considered favourably. It has an average salary in the region of 8-8.5 lakh pa so if you are at present around 4 lakh pa you can go ahead with it. While NM Mumbai looks difficult I would not rule it out but you will need to wait for the results of IIMs for the waitlist to move.

      • your reply to a question above says nmims mumbai waitlist will move by 1000. to this you have clarified that you mean 1000+1000 (calls already made). and now you are saying that wl 1174 looks “difficult”.. please clarify…

        • Anshuk, NMIMS has given a call to 1000 students and I think that upto WL 1000 will be cleared hence 1000+1000 and wait list 1174 looks difficult.

          • Sir,
I think there is some confusion between merit rank and w/l number. NMIMS has not given w/l number but only merit rank. It has given final calls to candidates having merit number till 1070. Anshuk’s merit rank is 1174 (not w/l number). So if you say 1000+1000 are likely to convert, means person having merit rank 2000 is likely to convert, am i right Sir?

          • Jaydeep, you are correct. Also expect significant movement only after the results of IIMs, XLRI, FMS and IITs are declared.

  68. Hello Sir,

How would you rate NMIMS Bangalore. I have 2 yr of work ex and want to go for ops specialization. Have been getting mixed reviews(and mostly not good) about it. Could you please throw some light on the prospects? Is it advisable to join?

    • Vikas, if you are interested in Ops only, NM-Bangalore should not be the college you should be looking for.

  69. Hello GP sir,

Could you please throw some light on how much would a work ex of 2 yrs fetch me out of 5 marks allotted to work ex by narsee and how much would a 10th/12th/btech – 89/86/66 fetch me out of 10 marks to acads?

  70. Sir my score in NMAT is 210. i have been called for an interview for FTMBA as well as the HR course.
    My acads are
    10th – 88%
    12th – 84%
    Btech – 74%
i know my score is borderline, but is a final call possible at such a score?

  71. Hello sir, I am a student of cl.
I just saw my nmat final result. My score is 59/56/56 over all 171. I am a b.tech biotech graduate and mba pharma was my 1st pref. however the result says not qualified.
Considering prev yr cut offs. 169 was max so I thought I will clear. I am confused sir. Is there going to be separate announcement for pharma mba?
    Plz help sir.

    • Kia, if the result says “Not qualified” there is nothing much you can do. You could talk to the admissions office though.

  72. Sir,
I got a total of 215 in NMAT
    QA:84

    Got 2 yrs work ex
What are my chances of getting a final admit from NMIMS Mumbai. whats the usual weightage for NMAT for final selection?

    Regards,
    Mathews George

  73. Sir, my nmat score is 207

I am doing B Pharm. Is there any chance that I’ll get a call for Pharmaceutical MBA? Will I be given a preference because of B Pharm?

    • Aishani, a call from NM Pharma is difficult but not ruled out. Let us hope for the best. There is no specific preference for B.Pharm graduates.

  75. Hi Sir, My Nmat score is 221 but whle filling program details , MBA core was not selected. will I be eligible for MBA core or it is purely preference based. Need ur help on the same sir.. Will be waiting for your kind reply

    • Harman, unfortunately if you have not selected the MBA core then you will not be considered for the program. You can however contact the NMAT helpline and request that you be considered.

  76. Sir,
My NMAT 2013 score is as follows:
    OA: 184
    QS: 74
    LS: 54
    LR: 56
Will i fetch a call for NM Bang/Hyd as last year the cut-off was 185 ? Is it likely to come down ?

Is this score sufficient to warrant a call for MBA(HR)? I am keen only on pursuing this program.

  78. Sir.

    My NMAT score is 205.
While filling up the application form, I chose the option which cost Rs. 2000.
I assume I will not be applicable to Bangalore and Hyderabad campuses. Is there anyway I can apply there now?
    And if not,
what are my chances of getting a call in any course from the Mumbai campus?

    • Jatan, apologise for the delay as I was travelling.
Unfortunately applying to these is not possible now. You can however send a email to NMIMS and hope they will agree.
Call from NM Mumbai is unlikely at a overall score of 205.

My only preference is MBA prog of NMIMS. What are my chances to get a call? and if I succeed in getting a call, what are the chances to convert it with such a low score. As I have heard that there are very bleak chances to get regular MBA prog with such a low score. Your knowledge shared would make many things clear for me.

    • Additonally I would like to add that I have a total work exp of 21 months at present( Operations and Supply chain mgmt).

    • Vikas, as mentioned earlier while it is a borderline case, you will most probably get a call from NM Mumbai FTMBA. Also many students with very high NMAT scores do not make it to the final list while students with low scores do. So do not worry too much about the low score but start PDP immediately to ensure that you are well prepared for the personality assessment stage.

p.s. -I do not have any work experience

    • Rajan, you will clear the cutoffs – sectional and overall but you may want to go for a retake to improve your score since you are likely to be just a couple of marks above the cutoff.

      • Sir I have scored 210 in my first attempt.

    • Varun, you are safe, a retake is not required. Your sectional scores are above the highest cutoff of the last 3 years. You should get a call from NM Mumbai FTMBA. Please start PDP immediately to ensure that you are well prepared for the personality assessment stage.

  83. Hello Sir.. i got an overall score of 195 (QS:69 LS:64 LR:62) …is there any chance of getting a call from Bangalore or Hyderabad campus ??

    • Sir ,please also advise on chances of conversion if I get a call from flagship program of nmims ,mumbai campus.I have 2.5 years of work experience

  85. Sir, i appeared for nmat and my scores after my first attempt are 202, the section wise marks are as follows
    QA 75
    LS 64
    LR 63
Please advice me whether I should go for a 2nd attempt or not

    • Sakshi, go for a retake, your QA and LS scores are okay but LR is on the edge and the overall should be at least 210 marks.

  86. Sir, I am in a big trouble right now. My NAMT exam is on 22nd Nov. and while filling the form, mistakenly I had chose NMIMS Hyderabad as my first preference and NMIMS Mumbai as my second preference in campus preferences. So if I will clear the cut off for Mumbai campus then would I get the call from Mumbai campus or not? As I fill the Hyderabad campus as my first preference.
Should I appear for the exam…is it worth? I am very worried…!!!

    Kindly help me..

    Thanking you…

    • Abhishek, this is not a problem at all. If you clear the sectional and overall cutoff for Mumbai then you will get interview calls from all campus/programs that you have applied for.
However your final selection will be based on the preference order given in the form. All you need to do is not appear for the Hyderabad interview and you will not be eliminated from Hyderabad list.

  87. Aakriti, Your LS and LR scores are good and you need to improve in QS by 7-8 marks. Arithmetic and DI comprise the biggest component in QS and this is where you need to focus.
For Bangalore and Hyderabad your overall score is fine but you are likely to miss out on the QS sectional cut off.

  88. Hi Sir!

I scored 223 in my first attempt but only 71 in Quants. Are sectional cutoffs important? Do I have a chance of getting a call?

Or would a second attempt be the best option?

    • Neha, sectional scores are important in NMAT, 223 is a very good score but unfortunately with in in QS you may not clear the sectional cutoff. Suggest you go for a retake, the minimum acceptable score in QS is 75.

  89. Hello Sir,
Sir while registering for NMAT initially,I paid the sum of rs.2000 only with my preference on sole MBA for Mumbai Campus. Will I not receive call from Bangalore Campus now ??
Is now anything can be done so that I may receive call from Bangalore Campus..
    Please Reply..Very much worried 🙁

    • Aditya, unfortunately nothing is possible now however you should call up NMIMS helpline and check if they will accept your application for Bangalore and Hyderabad campus.

  90. Good Day Sir,

My NMAT Scores are as under:
    Total 211
    QS 78
    LS 72
    LR 61

I read your comment on this thread that FTMBA Mumbai campus was 202 with QA 72, LS 55 and LR 61 last year. So from the point of view of playing it safe in LR and strengthening the overall total that shall get forwarded to the next levels (to be added to CD/PI Scores) I was wondering if I should retake the NMAT. Would love to read your take on it.

    Kindest Regards.

    • SG, the cut off was 209 (I made a mistake by writing 202), the sectional cutoffs are correct.
LR is a borderline case because its cut off has been as high as 65 in earlier years. Going for a retake is advisable to ensure a safer LR score (over 65) and a better overall score (around 220).

  91. hi sir,
i got an over all score of 179 in NMAT
    QS-67
    LS-58
    RS-54
what is the chance that i get a call
and which areas should i improve more for the next attempt

    • Chandu, At a score of 179 you are unlikely to get a call from any NM program. Also you are below the sectional cutoff in all the sections. Suggest you go for a retake, target a minimum score of 75 in QS, 65 in LR, 55 in LS and 210 overall.

    • Nishikant, you are below the cutoff for all programs/campus except Pharma Management and should go for a retake. Target minimum 75 in QS, 65 in LR, 55 in LS and 215 overall.

  92. Sir, I have scored 209 in NMAT 2014, QS-75, LS – 65, LR -69.
Should I be expecting a call? and I yes, what are my chances to convert?
Should I try a retake? This was Attempt 1.

    • Vishal, go for a retake, you are on the edge and may/may not get a call. Your sectional scores are all good but the total needs to go up above 215 to be sure of a interview call. Chance of final conversion also increase eith higher score.

  93. Hi GP,

I took my NMAT on the 2nd November. In which time frame can I expect my results? And also, are we supposed to pay for the retake? I was under the impression that once we register, we can take the exam up to 3 times.. Thanks!

    • Priyanka, you can expect your NMAT result by the end of this month.
Yes you need to pay for a retake. Please refer to their website for details.

  94. Sir, I have given NMAT FLT-1 and i have scored 177..
    QA- 81
    LR- 63
    VA- 33…
In which section do I need to focus more to clear the cut-offs.. I have my NMAT on 14th November..when would i come to know about my marks of the first attempt?

  95. Hi Sir,

I have got 204 in NMAT, 80 QA, LS 56, LR 68.. Is this score enough to get a call. I belong to General category, i have applied only for mumbai campus.

    • Sai, last year the cutoff for FTMBA Mumbai campus was 209 with QA 72, LS 55 and LR 61. You are thus clear but on the border but conversion could be an issue. If you are confident of increasing your score by 10-12 marks then you can consider a retake.

      • I m confident sir, I am retaking the exam on Nov 14th. Can you suggest any points(like strategy) to increase the score.

  96. Hi Sir,

I have scheduled NMAT retake test which is on 13 Nov, I also want to avail NMAT 2nd retake option and since slot are mostly full, i want to book NMAT 2nd attempt now only. But the NMAT site is not allowing me to register for the 2nd attempt with some error popping up which says- ” Candidate has an another open registration”. Can I not register for the 2nd attempt before taking the 1 retake? I am abiding by the rule of gap of 15 days. Please let me know if I can schedule my 2nd retake even before taking the 1st retake exam. I want to utilize each chance of taking the test and dont want to miss on the slots by not booking the slot right now.

  97. Sir,
Is there any difference between the levels of unproctored and proctored papers, because i am getting a bit low %ile in unproctored papers as compared to proctored ones………………
1 more thing, sir side by side i am giving mocks for NMAT also but my scores are not stabilising, they are b/w 180 to 240……what to do…??

    • Prateek, there is no difference between Proctored and Unproctored Mocks. What is the section wise break up of your NMAT scores.

        • Prateek, QA and LR are fine, even a the lowest end you should clear the cut off of these two sections but VA is low. Last couple of year the VA cut off was 55 so you need to essentially focus on increasing this score by 20 marks.

  98. Sir,
My nmat was 2 days back and i booked my retake today. i wanted a december or late november date but all the dates except 6th november show booked. How did the seats get book so fast for retake? I have been told to keep checking the date availibility in case new dates open up. As for now ive taken the early nov date but i dont think il be much prepared by then..what should i do? later Dates are not showing up in re scheduling option as well.

    • Rachna, nothing can be done in this case. Just focus on your CAT preparation. You should also focus on SNAP the moment you are through with your CAT.

  99. hello sir iam sanjay,,,i just wanted to know..that is data interpretation of cat/xat or any other exams is tough…as iam an engineering student,…but in tried some of the questions on di but i was able to solve some…as i tried it for the first time thats why sir i was asking this????????????

  100. hello sir iam vijay,,,,i just wanted to know..that is data interpretation of cat/xat or any other exams is tough…as iam an engineering student,…but in tried some of the questions on di but i was able to solve some…as i tried it for the first time thats why sir i was asking this????????????

    • Vijay, like any other question type DI sets/questions are of varying level of difficulty. Suggest you attempt the DI questions from CAT 1990-97 to get an idea of the DI question types that yo can expect in CAT.

  101. and sir one last question …i would like to ask is that ….what will be the expected or the cut off for IIFT this year/…..and what portions should i focus on so as to crack this entrance…..hope that it is not hard as comapred to cat,,xat….??????????????

    • Sanjay, expected IIFT cut off for this year cannot be predicted without the paper being conducted. Last year the IIFT cut off was around 50.5 marks. 80% of the paper is similar to CAT/XAT, it is easier than CAT/XAT but its DI and GK are usually the problem areas. Will be writing a blogpost separately on IIFT.

  102. Sir,
i had selected UID adhaar card as my identification proof for nmat 2014, due to some problems, i could not get the card made, is there any way i can call and request a change in the id proof??

  103. and sir how is sibm pune and iift i heard that it is also a top institute in terms of placement …..and also a question that how shaould i prepare for gk section for iift……and sir from where could i get the sample paper or the previous years question paper for nmat or snap or iift as i googled it but there was no previous years question paper of these exams//….

    • Sanjay, SIBM Pune and IIFT are both very good institutes and should be considered favourably especially if you are above 90%ile in Mock CATs. Previous year papers of SNAP and IIFT are available in your SIS – check the eLib section.

  104. thank u so much sir.,,… sir iam from greater noida…and iam pursuing my b.tech from galgotias college……actually sir my cousin has cracked…nmims…so thats why my main target was nmims….thats why ui asked..that one year of study is enough to crack nmat,,,,as i solved its sample paper…so i found it was quite easy as compared to cat…..

    • Sanjay, start early and focus on all tests -CAT, XAT, NMAT, IIFT, SNAP and CMAT. The degree of difficulty varies but the course coverage is almost the same.

  105. hello sir iam sanjay and iam preparing my self for next years cat exam…so sir i just want to ask that…is xat, nmat or snap is tougher that cat?????? i mean its difficulty level wise….and if i start preparation from now..than is there any chance that a person can clear any of the above exam/….i mean i know that its totally depends upon the capabilty of his or her but still for an average student who is not from iitsnits or any of the top 30 engineering colleges//…..because sir i just want to do mba…so as to gaun knowledge..so at least nmat or snap would be the option if i work hard…..

    • Sanjay, in terms of degree of difficulty, it is CAT=XAT > NMAT > CMAT = SNAP. This is the right time to start preparation for CAT’14 (Oct-Nov’14) and yes if you put in an honest effort you should be able to make it to one of the top 25 institutes.
Which city and college are you from?

  106. Sir,
pls tell me how normalization is done.. I got 73 correct out of 120 in my nmat FLT.. are these enough..and my score is low because of English..my correct attempts are as follows
    English..12
    quant..33
    LR..28
I am giving NMAT on 6th October

    • Tushar, NMAT has not disclosed the normalisation process. Your score in QA in LR is fine but English is very low and you will need to pull it up.

  107. thank u so much sir…but it was written some where that around above 98 percentile is required for call…is that true sir????

      • and the last question /……i would ask to u sir to clear all my doubts,,,,,,that is sir i want u to ask about nitie mumbai cut offs,,,,,,

        • NITIE Mumbai, the cut off for the PGSEM is low – around 80%ile but for PGDIM and PGITM you will need a score of around 97%ile

  108. thank u sir for ur guidance….and sir iam targeting cat -14,,,,,,and one last question that i have to ask is….that ….there are dms-iit delhi and sjmsom-iit bombay…..sir i want to ask about there cut offs,,,or approximational cut off about these colleges/.??????

  109. Hello sir,
Sir i have a query regarding nmims. Actually sir i got 2 backs in my engineering 2nd year and i also cleared those two subjects in my 3rd year. Sir as engineering is a 4-year program so i completed my degree on time. Sir, so i wanted to ask whether i will be eligible for NMAT or not.

  110. Hello Sir,
I got 2 backs in my 2nd year of engineering, but i cleared them in my third year. Also as engineering is of 4 years so will i be eligible for NMIMS. I have already filled the form but this thing was in my mind so felt like asking you.
Thank you for all your assistance sir.

    Regards,
    Prakhar

  111. Dear Sir,
My question is regarding MDI form filling.

At one place, in eligibility criteria, they have written:
‘The basis for computing the percentage obtained by the candidate would be based on the practice followed by the university/ institution/board from where the candidate has obtained the degree/certificate’.
    link is http://www.mdi.ac.in/admission/pgpm-im-hr.html

However, after login, following is written:
‘The percentage should be computed after taking into account all subjects/papers (5 subjects in 10th including one Language subject and English language and 5 subjects in 12th including Language subject) that you appeared for in the examination even if some of these subjects/papers are not considered by the Board/ University/ Institute for computing the final percentage of marks and awarding class/distinction.’

In 10th CBSE board, I had 6 subjects. 5 subjects with english and 1 language paper, plus one additional language paper as an optional paper. Mark sheet shows marks for all 6 subjects without distinctly identifying optional subject.

What percentage of marks I should consider?

  112. Sir, I completed my application procedure but while downloading the application form I am getting error:

“This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.”

    What should I do?

    • Abhishek, please contact NMAT help line – 91-22-42355621 / 42355622, enquiry@nmims.edu / ftmba@nmims.edu

  113. sir i just wanted to ask that ….if i appeared for nmat this year ……can i give nmat exam next year or not?????????????

      • .and one last question sir….http://www.ugc.ac.in/privateuniversitylist.aspx?id=33&Unitype=3 the above link is of ugc …and there is a univ. galgotias university and i am the student of it and i just wants to know as u have seen the status over there of our univ. i just want to know that am i elligible for nmat???? i mean am i capable of taking admission into this with this degree…. our univ. is approved by state legislature under the act of 14 2011….by uttar pradesh govt.

          • hello sir and i have a doubt …first of all iam an non iitan as wll as nitan…..i really want to crack iims..and i just want ur suggestions..that what are the neccesary things that are required..to crack iims…see iam an above average student ..but i can go to my optimum level to crack iims..so please reply soon//……and iam pursuing coaching and i saw..most of the students were from iits and nits so my confidence level is really down now…..

          • Deepansh, about 25-30% of the students in the IIMs are from IITs/NITs so they are not the majority but are the most visible ones. Just focus on your strengths and do not get distracted by such externalities.
What is your target – CAT’13 or CAT’14?

  114. Sir,
I failed in my first year of engineering. I am currently in 4th year ( will be completing the course in 5 years instead of 4). Am I eligible to sit in NMAT ? I am confused as they say graduation must have been completed in the duration stipulated by the university.

    • Irshad, NMAT stipulates that “the candidate must have completed graduation in the stipulated duration as per the respective University / Institution awarding the degree”. Most of the universities allow for completion of the course in more than 4 years so you should be eligible.

  115. hello sir.i just wanted to know that i have just filed the registration form for nmat and have made the payement too .but the problem is i have selected only mba full time course in the program details.and i have to make a change there by applying for both mba full time and pgdm.please sir is there any way that i can change it.?
    Any possible way

    • Akif, unfortunately it is not possible to change now. Please refer to point 8 of the terms and conditions.

      8. Candidates can edit certain fields like present address and academic background in their application form till they receive confirmation from NMIMS of receipt of Fee paid for registration. Candidates are advised to check the information entered in the online registration application form very carefully while registering and again before making payment as they will not be allowed to make any changes at a later stage.

However you can contact their helpdesk and request for the same.

  116. SIR, Please reply … the site says previous year’s %.. that means aggreate of all last years or jus the last year (im in final year presently )

  117. Dear Sir,

While choosing Full time course during registration for NMAT getting below error.
    Preference 1 MBA
    A Full-Time Degree Is Required
    Preference 2 MBA Banking Mangement
    A Full-Time Degree Is Required
    Preference 3 Core Banking
    A Full-Time Degree Is Required

Please suggest what to select. I opted for Full time course but its not accepting

    • Srikanth, I guess you are referring to the message that comes just below the box- this is not an error message, it is a caution to ensure that an ineligible student does not select it by mistake. If you have a full time graduation then go ahead and select the courses as per your preference.

      • Thanks GP for the reply. But actually I am unable to proceed further. I dont understand the difference between Full Time and PGDM. I am interested to pursue from Mumbai school so I selected Full Time MBA. When i selected 1st preference as MBA its not accepting. Not even other specialized courses. I tried all different combinations but in vain. Please help

  118. hi sir,
i am facing a dilemma as to when to give the nmat. i dont think that i will be confidant to give it in october,so i was planning to give it around the first week of december.i wont be able to give it anytime in november as i will be having my college exams in that month and if i give in december, i miss out on the opportunity for a retake. plus also a lot of people have told me that getting a retake test date is not a guarantee as slots might fill up so i dont want to risk giving it in october just for the sake of a hope for a retake date and give it without some self confidence. could you please help me as to whether giving it in december is a good option?.
    thanks..

    • Rahul, my suggestion is to go for a date in December when you are fully prepared. Take it once with full preparation so that a retake is not required.

    • Please stay in touch with the CL website and facebook page for updates on the forms etc. This information will be available at your CL center also.

  119. Hi Sir,

While filling the option for an ‘Academic Break’, the drop down menu contains options : ‘First’, ‘Second’, ‘Third’ & ‘Fourth’ years. Where shall I then fit in the gap taken after 10 + 2 ? Is this gap to be considered in the Academic Break ?

    Thanks.
    Amal

  120. Hi Sir,
I read this article after making the mistake . Actually i have a Academic break after class 12 . I prepared for Engineering entrance exams during that period. But I chose the option ” NO” in ” Do you have a academic break” . Is there anything that can be done now. Please give some suggestion . Any suggestion would help
